Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Director to join our team. The Development Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fundraising and development initiatives to support our organization's mission to to rescue and rehabilitate homeless and abandoned dogs in a no-kill environment until each is adopted into a caring, loving home; and to act as a sanctuary for those dogs who are never adopted. Our shelter is located near Mabank, TX. The ideal candidate will be located in the DFW metro area, with the ability to commute to the shelter weekly, monthly, or as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue goals

- Cultivate, strengthen, and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners

- Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities and trends

- Manage donor database (Network for Good) and ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records

- Plan and execute fundraising events, including logistics, budgeting, and marketing

- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of events management, including vendor management, day-of coordination, and post-event evaluation

- Write compelling grant proposals and manage the grant application process

- Collaborate with the leadership team and Board of Directors to develop strategic plans for long-term sustainability

- Utilize Constant Contact or similar platforms for effective communication with donors and stakeholders

- Perform networking at selected community and leadership events

- Directly supervise any Development Associates or Contractors

- Ensure compelling newsletters, social media posts, and collateral for all events, campaigns, and appeals are developed

- Manage social media platforms to promote fundraising campaigns and engage with supporters

Skills:
- Proven experience in fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit organization

- Strong knowledge of Network for Good or similar donor management software

- Excellent research skills to identify potential funding sources

- Event planning and management experience

- Exceptional proposal writing skills with a track record of securing grants

- Strategic planning abilities to develop long-term fundraising strategies

- Proficiency in using Constant Contact or similar email marketing platforms

- Social media management skills to effectively engage with supporters online

- Demonstrated success in fundraising campaigns and achieving revenue targets

- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience, with 2 years development experience

- Grant writing experience a plus

- Comfortable with public speaking

- Excellent communication skills–written, verbal (in-person and via phone) and on video

- Self-motivated, proactive, and must possess an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for animal rescue
